Low Impact Development (LID) Retrofit: Courtyard Planters

Project Summary:
In collaboration with the Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) and Landmark West!, eDesign Dynamics (EDD) designed and constructed a series of wooden planters to collect and treat rainwater. The overall goal of the project was to reduce combined sewer overflow (CSO) by reducing the quantity of stormwater entering New York City’s combined sewer system. EDD is assisting SWCD and Atlas Scientific with the second phase of the pilot project, to monitor the courtyard planters with the goal of generating data on stormwater retention capacity of green infrastructure.
